Office Hours - We Could Be
Dec. 31st, 2037 11:59 pm[Faith's door remains closed, the brass "PRIVATE" plaque silent and unyielding. Trying to force the door yields no results, but- she said you could contact her here, so just go ahead and knock. Worst case scenario, you're no worse off than before, right?]

You were- ...you are correct. I was foolish to believe that rule five was anything but a cruel gingerbread house. That bloodshed was not the point.
[She looks down at her desk for a moment, unable to meet his eyes.]
And despite everything, I still cannot believe it is the ONLY point. That there is no other purpose, that- that Solarinace would harbor such malice. Is that also foolishness?

Date: 2025-10-15 02:13 am (UTC)Whether Solarinace's nature and intent are good or evil is neither for me to judge, nor is it necessarily so clearly definable as that. I agree that sacrifice for sacrifice's sake feels an incomplete purpose--that all of this being for its own sake would feel so futile as to be illogical. So yes, I would believe there is a greater reasoning for all of this; perhaps a small group of sacrifices bent towards the benefit of all.
But I know too well that...irreparable harm can be done without a shred of ill intent. I do not deny the possibility that they do not see or even comprehend their own actions as cruelty--that does nothing to change the fact that they are. To achieve a noble goal through bloodshed is a shorter path, but a tainted one--and there is no guarantee that goal will even resemble what one hopes it will.
[His hand dropped from his hair, turned over idly as he stared at metallic fingertips in tired resignation.]
...I see too much of myself in the pair of you, Faith. That frightens me--for your sake just as much as our own.

Date: 2025-10-15 04:30 am (UTC)I want to understand why they are doing this. Solarinace- I have known them, served them my entire life. And this- it feels wrong. Unlike them. I would know why.
[Know if she has been a fool, or if she has been actively lied to.]
Would you also do the same?

[But affirmation that she's not just blindly chasing delusion- it helps.]
And I promise I aim to stop this. And save as many as I am able. Including my god, if they can be saved.

Here--it is not much of significance, but I find having material reminders one is not necessarily alone to be a reassurance.

Butterflies are...a commonly understood symbol of many things. Primarily, concepts like fate and evolu--metamorphosis. I simply thought it might suit you.
