[ Revelations! Lingering inquiries, and still, with no sign of reprieve from this place that seems primed to instill a sort of deadly cabin fever.

The feeling of potential danger in the form of tension is exciting enough. But, he grants the door a light knock. ]

Hey, got some downtime? I decided I might want to drop in for a quick chat again.

[ They've all got free time in spades, and more chances for any single one of them discover more about their situation - whether it's about this place, or the one crucial to their "stay". ]

[As the door opens, Faith is rolling up a large sheet of paper on her desk; Childe can probably catch sight of what look like complicated calculations and diagrams before it vanishes into a drawer.]

Sir Childe, please come in. I'm here to assist you all, of course.

[ His eyes fall right on the complex calculations and diagrams...unfortunately, his mind is ill-suited to those, so he will never be able to parse them - even if in the event they lingered in sight.

He remembers she showed them nonetheless. The fact she hid them is noteworthy enough. ]

Glad to hear it.

[ ... ]

I'll get straight to the point about something...how familiar are you with a god of murder?

[She pauses, blinking.]

I am aware of his existence. But I do not believe he nor any of the old gods have been active since the calamity.

Huh? What do you mean by not active?

...Did they all die in the calamity too? Or, got killed by something else?

[ Fair question to ask, right? ]

Killing a god at the height of their power is no easy feat, but any disaster capable of wiping the world as clean as this one may have damaged them. Perhaps even severely so.

[She's quiet for a moment, considering.]

Regardless, they have been silent since before my own memories of this place. If they still live, they may have departed for another world entirely.

[ There's a sudden, abrupt moment of silence on Childe's end, because it's still foreboding no matter whatever happened to those beings. But also, something else comes to mind. ]

Do you ever get worried that some kind of calamity would happen again while you're here? Or...do you have faith that sort of event won't just repeat again? That you'll be fine, no matter what happens?

[ All this talk of gods, worlds, and everything that's happened just makes him wonder. ]

Hm. I confess it's not a possibility I have given great consideration.

[She thinks for a moment.]

I've not been able to determine the nature of the disaster, or what caused it- so I suppose it is largely a hope that it was unique in its occurrence, or close enough. But even if not I've no way of predicting or preparing for it, or ameliorating its effects. Worrying about it would just be a Sisyphean sort of torment, would it not?

Sisyphean, huh?

[ He supposes the response gives him a picture of someone at least with no weak backbone or tendency to give into easy worry.

Who can say if that will remain in the future? But, it's just something for him to take note of before he leans against a wall. ]

I won't bother asking what that'd look like. But, I get what you mean. It's meaningless to worry yourself too much. That's a lesson anyone should take to heart.

...Speaking of which, what was it like, anyway? Being taught all the time here? Since clearly you didn't have tutors to learn about all you needed to know, or go to school. I can't imagine you just suddenly knew all you did one day.

Solarinace- taught me what they were able. Guided me and protected me until I was better able to do so on my own. But it has been a great deal of teaching myself with the materials available.

Materials...like the engineering and magic books here hanging around, right?

And then making stuff in the forge?

[ There was stuff about mechanical engineering, so maybe like, some efforts there, probably (he proves how silly he is in this arena by thinking it involves a forge) It'd be kind of funny she could make another toy mini-cyclops or something. It could be a nice souvenir for Teucer.

...Okay, no, maybe that's not in the wheelhouse here. ]

Correct. The craft of artifice can be quite similar to that of magic, in some ways, and studying one has certainly helped and reinforced my studies of the other.

Sounds complicated...

[ ... ... ...thinking of Teucer and kid's toys again. ]

...So, this means you can make toys with it, right?

I mean, obviously you can make weapons too, but both require a certain amount of different skill even with magic, I'm guessing.

Oh, certainly. Did you have something in mind?

Yeah. You see, there's these golems...I'm not sure if you're familiar with them, but they exist on my world, and are called Ruin Guards.

Someone I know likes them a lot, but I was thinking if a plush version could be gotten for him, that'd be cool. It'd be like a souvenir I could take to him.

Oh, certainly!

[She takes a moment, getting some blank sheets of paper situated on her desk and getting a pen ready.]

What do they look like?

[ It never ceases to amaze him how willing she is to lend a hand to others. ]

Haha, thanks a lot, I think I'll owe you one! Let's see...

[ Childe's going to describe the Ruin Gard right down to the neatest detail. ]
