Office Hours - We Could Be
Dec. 31st, 2037 11:59 pm[Faith's door remains closed, the brass "PRIVATE" plaque silent and unyielding. Trying to force the door yields no results, but- she said you could contact her here, so just go ahead and knock. Worst case scenario, you're no worse off than before, right?]

As I mentioned to-

Date: 2025-10-26 06:56 pm (UTC)The day we met, you told me you had not been hallowed. I am asking you these questions because I am not quite certain you were correct.
And even if I, too, am wrong, you -
[ See what you like. ]
- deserve to know.

[But nor can she deny that it would explain many things. The inconsistencies in her god's behavior, their recent communions-]
["I believe one must seek a clear picture with a calm mind before passing judgement or taking action."]
...how would we be able to know with certainty? There are no others here to confirm or deny the veracity of my memories.

We begin with the most obvious.
[ Val rolls up her sleeves. By now, Faith has probably caught on to the fact that Val refuses to do this in trial. It's a sign of trust, and a sign of how seriously Val is taking this. Faith now has a clear view of the runes carved into her arms. A few of them, as always, squirm and shift. ]
These are prayer-marks. In my world, all Saints have them. When I leave here, check your skin for them. If you have a prayer-mark, you are almost certainly a Saint. If not, perhaps there are more clues in this massive manor as to how you came to be.

[Turning the information over in her head, she's quiet for a moment.]
...If we are positing that my memories may be unreliable, is it possible my senses may be as well? If a god wished their saint to not know they were a saint, would hiding their marks from their own eyes be feasible or is this merely an exercise in paranoia?

Date: 2025-10-28 12:00 am (UTC)It's possible. The Last Word, I think, wanted me to know who I belonged to. But I would confirm for yourself first that you cannot see any prayer-marks before you jump to that conclusion. I can verify what you have or haven't seen, if you like.

[...no, that path is DEFINITELY an exercise in madness.]
Um. One moment, Lady Val.
[Faith reaches down, opening a drawer in her desk, and reaching in- and in-]
I know there is one some- Aha.
[Yeah she's just pulling out a full scale privacy screen from the desk.]
